RDC’s Full Council Meeting held on 29th April 2008

At the Full Council Meeting held in public on 29th April at Swale House Councillors endorsed every one of the seven recommendations of the Resources Committee set out below

(the references in brackets refer to specific minutes of meetings held by the RDC’s Resources Committee and are included in this announcement for completeness).

Yorke Square Car Park and Office Accommodation Requirements

a)      That the planning application and all associated matters submitted in December 2005, in accordance with the resolution (L) of Minute R14 (22 June 2005) be withdrawn).

b)      That work be undertaken to examine a range of options with all interested parties for the future of Yorke Square as a community resource, with an interim report being submitted to the September/October 2008 meeting of Resources Committee with a view to a final report being submitted to Resources Committee and Council in December 2008.

c)       That the progress reports on the Council’s Office Accommodation Project currently being submitted to the Resources Committee and Council through each cycle of meetings, in accordance with minute R19 (29 June 2006), cease with immediate effect.

d)      That a comprehensive review of all aspects of the office accommodation project, against the background of the future requirements for the Council, is undertaken and a further report be presented in due course.

e)      That any future asset disposals linked to the office accommodation project but necessary to effectively manage the Council assets be considered on a case by case basis.

f)        That options on commissioning an investigative report into the circumstances surrounding Yorke Square be submitted to the next meeting of the Resources Committee.

g)      That a press release be issued to include the Committees acknowledgement of the work of Save Our Shire.

Save Our Shire understands that following the decisions taken in this report, a community consultation will be held in the near future.
